Digital delivery platform Instacart is teaming up with organization retailer The Container Store to offer same-day delivery throughout the U.S. The national partnership will bring same-day and one-hour delivery from The Container Store’s 93 retail locations. The service is initially launching in Texas and will soon roll out to 33 states and Washington, D.C.

“Consumer buying behavior has changed increasingly in the past year, and our partnership with Instacart is going to allow us to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs,” Satish Malhotra, CEO of The Container Store, said in a press release on Thursday (May 6).

Nilam Ganenthiran, president of Instacart, said the partnership will give customers the ability to get “much-needed storage and organization products” delivered from The Container Store directly to their homes. “From refreshing a home office with desktop solutions, enhancing a closet with new hangers or upgrading food storage in the kitchen pantry,” people will get “exactly what they need” delivered the same day and sometimes “in as fast as an hour.”

Headquartered in Silicon Valley and founded in 2012, Instacart has over 600 partnerships with national, regional and local retailers from more than 45,000 stores in 5,500-plus cities in North America. Instacart is available in more than 85 percent of households in the U.S., and some 70 percent in Canada.

Headquartered in Coppell, Texas and founded in 1978, The Container Store first opened in Dallas and has since grown to 93 locations in the U.S.

Convenience has become an important driver in how people shop for everything from groceries and pet food to toiletries, office supplies and sundries. Convenience stores and pharmacy chains like 7-Eleven, Walgreens and CVS saw sales from third-party delivery apps surge 346 percent last year.

Instacart has been teaming with various retailers to offer same-day delivery of nonessentials like art supplies from Michaels. Other platforms have also moved in the direction of delivering everything an individual or family could need. For example, Uber Eats teamed with prescription delivery service Nimble, and DoorDash launched its own in-house convenience store, DashMart.
