Grubhub President and Chief Financial Officer Adam DeWitt said in the announcement that the company saw strength throughout each of its markets in the first quarter and it had the “highest growth coming in places with a heavy existing competitive presence.”
“We also observed a continued, steady recovery in our largest market, New York City,” DeWitt said in the announcement.
As for its overall results, Grubhub reported a non-GAAP net loss per diluted share of 56 cents on $550.6 million in revenues, the announcement stated.
In terms of Just Eat Takeaway.com’s potential purchase of Grubhub, Maloney said in the announcement that the company is “looking forward to closing the transaction in the coming months and beginning our next chapter as part of the Just Eat Takeaway.com family” with “yesterday’s public filing of the registration statement and preliminary proxy statement with the SEC and the Grubhub special stockholder meeting expected to take place in June.”
The news comes as Grubhub’s app grew to have 31.4 million active users in the fourth quarter, marking a 39 percent year-over-year increase at the time.
